The emergence of two South African talents poised to make a significant impact in the film industry

In the esteemed halls of the New York Film Academy, a captivating event unfolded as the Consulate of South Africa in New York welcomed an eager audience. They gathered to witness a unique cinematic gem: a comedy that delves into the lives of two sisters carving their path in the South African real estate landscape. This special screening showcased an entertaining narrative and highlighted the remarkable journey behind its creation.

The film, a brainchild of the talented duo Reabetswe Moeti-Vogt and Zoe Ramushu, navigates through the challenging yet humorous endeavors of the sisters in the real estate business. What sets this film apart is its authentic representation, predominantly featuring native South African languages, enabling a deep and genuine connection with its storyline.

Reabetswe Moeti-Vogt, during an emotional and powerful presentation alongside her colleague Zoe, shed light on their formidable obstacles. "We battled at almost every turn," she shared, "from selecting our actors to defining the film's direction." This journey of resilience and determination is as compelling as the film itself.

Shot in 2022, the comedy received support from the National Film and Video Foundation and Netflix. It stars the talented Gina Koffman and Leera Mthethwa, who brilliantly portray the protagonists' transition from selling modest apartments to high-end homes.

The audience at New York Film Academy became a witness to more than just a film; it was a celebration of collaboration, perseverance, and the emergence of two South African talents poised to make a significant impact in the film industry.
